The female scholars organised in the ProFiL Netzwerkverein e.V. are participants and alumnae of the ProFiL Programme. They are guided by a mission statement considering a special commitment to outstanding research and teaching as fundamental. The members of the association are committed to a scientific system and to scientific organisations which are efficient and internationally competitive because they create the best possible framework for outstanding research and education. They are committed to the promotion of young scholars, which encourages equal opportunities and diversity, complementing excellent specialist scientific training with professional leadership development and opening up clear future prospects for young scholars from an early stage. The members of the association integrate themselves and their young scholars into the scientific community and into relevant professional and interdisciplinary organisations in order to promote networking in a disciplinary and interdisciplinary manner. In addition, the members of the association take on responsibility in academic self-administration and actively participate in higher education policy positions and functions to shape the ongoing reform processes and the further development of the higher education and science system.

The mission statement and guiding values of the ProFiL Netzwerkverein e.V. include academic freedom coupled with socio-political responsibility, fairness and equal opportunities, loyalty and a culture of dialogue combining personal appreciation with the recognition of different positions, assessments and interests. The association members reject nepotism. The discussions, consulting and support services in the ProFiL Netzwerkverein e.V. are content- and fact-oriented. All aspects concerning the personal affairs of members are treated in strict confidence. Central rules of interaction with one another are laid down in the Code of Conduct of the ProFiL Netzwerkverein e.V..
